Beloit Memorial Almost Erases 5-Run Deficit In Loss To Verona Wildcats Varsity
Verona Wildcats Varsity built a five-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off Beloit Memorial’s charge for a 6-4 victory on Thursday. Beloit Memorial scored four runs in the failed comeback. Brett Kiger, Jaron Coleman, and Kiger picked up RBIs to lead the rally.
Verona Wildcats Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Connor McGowan doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Reagan Klawiter led the Verona Wildcats Varsity to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six. McGowan threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. McGowan recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Verona Wildcats Varsity.
Coleman took the loss for Beloit Memorial. He went four innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out four.
Tucker Teskey, Jonah Haffner, Tristan Largent, Stephen Lund, and McGowan each collected one hit to lead Verona Wildcats Varsity.
